The Braun Series 7 790cc electric shaver is Braun’s top-of-the-line product and comes fully equipped with everything you will need for a close and comfortable shave. This product has three modes that you can switch between for different parts of your face: sensitive, normal, and intensive.
I had been needing a new shaver for a while but had never gotten around to buying one. The one I had before was a Panasonic Arc 5 electric razor and it finally bit the dust after 1 year.
I wanted to invest in another good shaver that would last a long time, but I wasn’t sure which Braun to get, and I hated to spend the money on myself. I was just using regular old razors when my wife finally got me the Braun Series 7 790cc for Christmas. I’ve used it a few times, and so far, I’m pretty impressed.
It has its pros and cons, but for me, they are largely pros.
Braun Series 7 790cc: Smooth shave to improve your looks
Main Features
Braun Series 7 790cc seems more “modern” in design than some of the older models I’ve used. It runs quiet and has a nice, smooth design with an easy grip. It’s a cool silver color that doesn’t show dirt or grime. Its “3D” function takes some getting used to, but I liked that, too. It comes with foils and is easy to put together/adjust accessories.
Braun Series 7 790cc
✔ Close Shave.
✔ No Irritation.
✔ Easy to Clean.
✔ Quick Charging Time.
✔ Good price
❌ Not Ergonomic.
❌ Difficult to Use.
LED Light Indicator:
It has a cordless charger base and an LED light on the electric shaver itself to show when it’s charging, comes with a whole bunch of different accessories, and a cleaning station as well as a travel case, which is super convenient for when I need to take it with me on a trip or whatever.
Cordless Charger Base:
I also like that it’s cordless because it’s one less thing for me to trip over. My version came with a travel kit. The Braun Series 7 790cc runs quiet and is small enough to not take up half the bathroom. I like the look of it-it’s small and compact and the blades and accessories are all really sleek and cool and don’t take up much space.
And then, of course, your accessories. You’ve got the standard stuff plus the sideburn trimmer and some other cool little things. None of them are bulky or hard to attach, just really easy to use and all of them work really well.
Different settings for the dry and wet shave
It has a number of settings, depending on what kind of a shave you want – dry shave or wet, with a number of different speeds/settings to try out, if that’s your thing. Previous versions didn’t have these many settings.
Basically, you’ve got your dry settings – close shave, slower, faster – then the same set of settings for the wet shave. You just have to play around with the different ones to see which setting works best for you.
Shaving Performance
I really like the shave I get with this. The blades are great quality and it does give you a really close shave, the kind you expect from a really pricy shaver.
But the Braun Series 7 790cc is pretty inexpensive.
I was impressed by how close of a shave I got around the mustache and sideburn area (and it has an attachment specifically for sideburns, which is cool ); there were a few errant stray hairs but nothing too bad like my Panasonic used to leave behind.
The way the attachment juts out and lifts up the flat-lying hairs is really good, it helps avoid ingrown hairs and gets you a closer shave. It works better than any other shaver I’ve tried. With my old shaver, I would have to shave every day. With the Braun Series 7 790cc Electric shaver, I can skip a day if I want because it gives me so much closer of a shave.
I also like the way the shaver pulses while shaving. It’s almost like getting a little mini face massage while shaving. I’ve yet to get a nick or a caught hair while using this, either.
For such a high-powered shaver, it is pretty gentle on the face. Compared to my old Panasonic shaver, this one just has a really modern appearance; it’s smaller and more lightweight and more functional, too. Just overall easier to handle.
It takes up less space. I like it a lot.
Performance Pros and Cons:
• Pro: Massages face.
• Pro: Easy to Handle.
User-Friendliness
Braun Series 7 790cc – It’s an easy shaver to get the hang of. I just kind of mimicked the movement of a blade razor while I used it and found that did the trick. Hold it at a 90-degree angle like Braun recommends and you’ll see good results.
I find that the dry shave setting works much better for me than the wet shave, but your results may vary. I think it has a lot to do with the gel you use, too – I’ve tried it with a couple of different shaving creams and gels so far and it worked great with both.
I plan to try the wet shave option again soon with different shave cream, maybe an oil. Though the shaver itself is not waterproof so be careful when doing the wet shave thing. Don’t bring it in the shower! Basically, it’s just a really cool, sleek little shaver that charges up easily and is relatively easy to clean and maintain. It’s worth the price, just for the various speed and wet/dry settings.
It really does a good job getting around trickier areas, and I like that it lifts up the hair to help you avoid ingrown hairs (which are a problem for me). That in itself is a unique feature that I had never seen on a shaver before.
It also has an easier power button – previous versions had a really awkward power button that would accidentally get turned off.
You can just leave the Braun on the base to charge all the time, which is good if you’re one of those people whose shaver is always dead right as you’re trying to get out the door.
Accessories
For someone who is particular about their mustache or goatee, the accessories on the Braun are really good. They get into small areas and the precision is pretty spot on. And they don’t leave a lot of hairs behind for you to go back and get, like some other electric shavers.
It can be a little clunky getting the right positioning but once you do it works really good.
You can use foil or rotary. I prefer the foil.
I’ve heard that the foils need to be replaced really often, but since I haven’t had the Braun Series 7 790cc that long, I can’t really attest to that.
I guess it depends on how often you shave and how thick/wiry your hair is.
Cleaning and maintenance:
One of the downsides of this item is the cleaning dock. It’s a cool feature in theory, but the automatic cleaning station doesn’t quite do the trick for me – you’re supposed to submerge the shaver in the cleaning station and it charges while it cleans, dumping the hair as it pulses, but I found that it wasn’t 100% clean when it was done.
That could just be because I have rather thick hair. But this is a minor gripe considering all the great things about the product, and I was easily able to clean up the bits that the cleaning station didn’t remove.
Oh, and it’s cordless. It has a nice LED light that shows when it is charging, and you can even charge it while it’s cleaning.
It takes lithium batteries that are easy to replace when needed.
Accessories Pros and Cons:
• Pro: Can use the foil or rotary.
• Con: Foils may need replacement often.
• Con: Cleaning docks might not clean shaver entirely.
Ease of Use
The product info on the box tells you to always wash your face before using the Braun Series and to hold the razor at a 90-degree angle while holding your skin taut. Use your favorite shaving cream, gel, or oil if you want.
Braun Series 7 790cc
Pull your skin really taut, especially around the neck or jawline, whatever area where your hair tends to catch. The tighter you pull your skin the closer of a shave you’ll get. That’s pretty much what I did, and the razor worked like a charm for me. It didn’t take long to get the hang of it and I was hooked immediately. I plan to use this razor as long as it holds out, which, if the other reviews I’ve read are to be believed, is a long time.
I’ve seen reviews where people are still singing its praises three and four years after buying.
Ease of Use Pros and Cons:
• Pros: Works well with your favorite shaving creams, gels, and oils.
• Pros: Reputation for working for a long time.
Is Braun Series 7 790cc a good product for its Price?
I’ve seen others complain about the price, but it’s not too bad in my opinion.
There is already a 9 version of this out, but from reading the reviews, my wife and I decided to get the Braun Series 7 790cc, because it seemed so popular and was more inexpensive compared to the newer version.
In fact, compared with similar shavers, it is super inexpensive. And the reviews for some of those other shavers are terrible. The Braun Series 7 790cc set my wife back less than half of that and it’s so much better in design, functionality, and accessories than so many other ones I’ve seen in the store.
And the cleaning solution, once you have to replace it, is really affordable, too. It takes forever to run out, and if you’re not into going out and buying more accessories, you can just clean the shaver yourself with good old soap and a glass of water.
But if you want to talk expense…the replacement blades are expensive. Much more so than replacing the cleaning stuff.
And they are exclusive, meaning you can’t buy blades for the series 3 or whatever and use them interchangeably. I’ve seen a lot of folks complain about this and I agree. It’s inconvenient and forces you to pay more for the Braun Series 7 790cc blades.
That being said, they are such good quality that if you really love the shaver otherwise, it’ll be worth it to you. Just be aware going in that you won’t be able to buy generic blades or buy blades for an older version of the Braun.
Nope, …you’re going to have to shell out for the real deal. It’s an investment. It’s one of those things where you know you’ll get your money’s worth out of it the first handful of times you use it.
Replacement Head Parts
All the Series 7 lines, including the Braun Series 7 790cc in our review, could be used by the Braun 70s replacement blades head. They are widely available on the market with the cost of ownership low.

Pricing Pros and Cons:
• Pro: Cleaning solution provides a lot of bang for your buck.
• Con: Blades are exclusive, which will cost a little more.
My Final Thoughts
After using it a few times, I have to say the Braun Series 7 790cc electric shaver is a really great little shaver. It works wonders better than my old one, gives a really close shave (even in tricky areas), and is pretty cheap, really, considering how good a shaver it is.

Braun Series 9 9290cc
I did notice that the Braun Series 7 790cc didn’t work quite as great when my beard was longer – I’d let it grow for a few days over the holidays and when I finally shaved, I noticed the shave wasn’t as close as before. But that’s to be expected, I guess. And I may have better results on a different speed.
Even with a couple of unimportant flaws, the value itself makes it worth giving a shot. It’s inexpensive for something that will last for years and years is a pretty good deal. If you have the money to shell out for it, I’d recommend going ahead and getting it.
This is a good enough product that I would consider getting it for someone as a gift or eventually buying one for my son when he gets older. I would say if you are considering getting someone a cordless shaver as a gift to definitely go with the Braun Series 7.
Why you should choose the Braun Series 7 790cc Shaver System?

Final Verdict
Braun Series 7 790cc is one of the most popular electric shavers with technology-packed and acclaimed electric shavers of all time. I’m a fan. I love the sleek design and how compact it is, how it charges on the dock without a cord, and even the cleaning station, despite it not being 100% perfectly clean. The Braun has cut my time shaving in the morning in half.
I’m pretty busy and that’s important to me, to be able to save time with an efficient product. Braun Series 7 790cc deserves the best electric shaver for a close shave you should buy. All in all, it was a great gift, gives me a great shave, and I know I’ll be using it for years to come.

Great review. I bought the 797cc model yesterday at Target and the shaving is great.
