For many years I used regular cheap razors to shave my beard. Though part of me wanted to get a good electric shaver, there were too many options and I could never justify the price. Not on something for myself, anyway.

For my last birthday, I was surprised when my father gave me the Braun Series 9 9095cc. Braun Series 9095cc is the new intelligent electric shaver that adapts perfectly to the face. It took a bit of getting used to, but overall, I’m enjoying it.

Braun presents high quality electric shavers on the market and it has a great market share and reputation. Like any product, it has its pros and cons, but it’s certainly far better than regular razors I ever were.

After I started using the Braun Series 9 9095cc, I was amazed at how easy it was to shave with it.

It fits comfortably in my hand and the grip makes it impossible for me to drop it, even with the amount of water and shaving cream I use. There have been many times that I’ve lost my grip on a razor and cut myself or messed up my trim.

But not with this shaver.

And that brings me to another fun fact: This shaver is 100% waterproof and can be used wet or dry! And with the MultiHeadLock design, I can easily reach hard-to-get places, like under my jaw or my nose.

I love the small, beautiful chrome design. It doesn’t take up a lot of room on the countertop. Neither doesn’t feel clunky to use. It also came with a travel case, so I can easily take it with me whenever I go on a trip or something.

The cleaning base, though, is probably my favorite feature. No more rinsing under the faucet. No more watching it grow rust from the moisture in the bathroom. The base deep cleans sanitizes and completely dries the shaver as it charges.

The shave I get with the Braun Series 9 9095cc is probably the closest and cleanest I’ve ever gotten. Honestly, I don’t know how I ever got by with regular razors before.

Although it fits snug in my hand and is easy to hold, I’m not pleased with the location of the swivel lock button. I keep accidentally hitting it with my thumb and locking the swivel head.

I always have a hard time with my sideburns and mustache area, but the precision trimmer on the Braun series 9 9095cc makes it simple.

I also like the fact that the trimmer is already attached to the back of the shaver, out of the way for normal use. When you need it, slide it out of the back and you’re good to go.

I’ve seen other shavers where the trimmer is a separate attachment. Those may work for some, but my forgetful self would lose it easily.

User-Friendliness

As this was my electric shaver reviews, there was a bit of a learning curve. It’s a foil trimmer, so based on other reviews and suggestions I just shaved at a 90-degree angle like with a cheap razor and it did the trick.

It didn’t take long to get used to this shaver. I even figured out eventually how to hold it and not accidentally lock the swivel head.

The wet/dry feature is really fun. I love the fact that I can use this in the shower, which is great for the mornings when I sleep through my alarm.

I can shave and shower and still make it work on time. And I don’t have to worry about accidentally cutting myself in the rush, as would happen with the regular razors.

The wet shave settings work best for me, but I find myself doing a quick dry shave on my days off. Just to keep it from getting too overgrown. Your preferences may vary, though.

Taking this shaver on business trips or family vacations is a breeze. It barely takes up space in my luggage and can be set up in seconds. If you travel frequently, you’ll love it, too.

Ease of Use

The Braun website recommends shaving before you take a shower, and to stretch the skin while you shave. It also says to hold the shaver at a 90-degree angle while keeping even pressure.

Besides the few mornings I’ve had to shave in the shower, I’ve followed these recommendations with great results. You can also use your favorite creams, gels, or oils with this shaver.

Many of the reviews on the market rave that two years later, this shaver still gives them the best shave of their lives. This gives me hope that I’ll be able to use this for many years before I ever have to get a new one.

Probably one of the best things about this device is its cordless feature. With my wife and daughter’s hair dryers and curling irons, it’s nice to have something of mine in the bathroom that doesn’t add to the tangled mess of cords. And the battery life is superb.

In between charges I’ve discovered that this electric shaver is really easy to clean. The whole kit comes with a tiny little brush, which may work if your facial hair is soft and fine. Mine, however, is rough and thick.

Instead of the brush, I go outside with a can of compressed air (like you would use for cleaning out a computer), and it works like a charm.

The Price

Even though I love the close shave I get with the Braun Series 9 9095cc, I would’ve never owned it had it not been a gift. But when it first came out, it was whopping! Though I believe this is a great shaver for the price, I never would’ve been able to afford it on my own.

The price for replacement heads has gone down over the years as well, which looks good for when I need them. 

Many reviews stated that if the price didn’t change soon, they would have to switch to a different brand entirely. I would’ve considered the same thing.

According to Braun, the head should be replaced every 18th month. I think I can handle only spending little money on a new head every year and a half.

If the price ever goes back up I may have to reconsider.

While reading through reviews on both the shaver and the replacement, it seems that while most people have no issues, others have had issues with the blades breaking.

And then when they get replacements, the replacements fail, too, causing them to have to buy the replacement again. The cleaning solution, however, is affordable and comes in a pack of 4, so it should last a good while.

Especially if you don’t clean it every day. But if you prefer not to go that route you can just use soap and water to clean your shaver.

Why Your Need the Braun Series 9 9095cc Shaver

I’ve been using the Braun Series 9 9095cc shaver for a few months now and am enjoying it more and more. I’ve had zero issues with the blades and just placed an order for the cleaning solution refills the other day.

My favorite part is being able to shave in the shower. I haven’t been late to work once since I started using this shaver.

The battery life lasts for weeks, making it even easier to take with me on my business trips. I don’t even need to pack the cleaning station – I just rinse with soap and water at the hotel.

I’m still hoping and crossing my fingers that I don’t have any issues with the blades in the coming months. The horror stories I’ve read about the blades breaking have me worried.

I’ll just keep using it the way I have and hope for the best.

I really love this electric shaver and hope that I’m able to continue using it for years. Given the price, though, had I been searching for a shaver to buy for myself this wouldn’t have been on the list.
